Living In My Shoes                                        Written by: Bob Hamilton

My life’s in a rut
I fell into my coffee cup
I’m going round in circles every day
Morning night and noon
The gods they laugh and call the tune
And in the end they’ll always have their way

Ah ah ha, I’m such a stupid fool
I break the rules and then I’m made to pay
Oh oh oh, but I don’t think I can change
So I’ll stay the same, living day to day

‘Cause I’m happy, happy to be
Living in my shoes
Keeping on top of the daily blues
A train leaves the station
I jump on, as it starts to move

I have never seen
Asia Minor or the Philippines
San Francisco, Fiji or Peru
I just spend my time
In a little corner of my mind
Waiting for the sunshine to break through

One fine day I will ride that morning train
Like a hobo ‘cross the North American plain
Heading West, with the warm wind in my hair
And that smoky engine smell hanging in the air

So I’m happy, happy to be
Living in my shoes
One step ahead of the daily blues
In my imagination
I can travel anywhere I choose
